X-Men: Apocalypse is an American feature film of the superhero fantasy and action genres. It is the ninth film in the X-Men film franchise (including spin-offs, and is the sixth film to deal with the mutant response team known as the X-Men. It is the third installment in the relaunch series, and follows the events of 2014's X-Men: Days of Future Past, albeit ten years later. The movie was directed by Bryan Singer, who helmed the first two X-Men films, as well as Days of Future Past, and was written by Simon Kinberg based on a story treatment by Kinberg, Singer, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris. It was produced by Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, Bad Hat Harry Productions, and Marvel Entertainment and released theatrically in the United Sates on May 27th, 2016.
