Wilson Fisk is a fictional crime boss and politician and a recurring antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He has been a foe of both Spider-Man and Daredevil and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #50 in July, 1967.

Biography[]

Secret Empire[]

Wilson Fisk teamed up with Doctor Strange, Spider-Woman and Ben Urich in a bid to stop Baron Mordo from merging New York City with the Dark Dimension. During the chaos, Fisk was possessed by a juvenile smoke demon. Ben Urich had to take on the power of the Light Knight and used the Sword of Light to expel the demon from the host body. ^[3]

Devil's Reign[]

Working with Federal lawmakers, Wilson Fisk helped to draft the Powers Act, which prohibited the unlawful use of superhuman abilities. In the capacity of Mayor of New York City, he heavily enforced the act through the use of the government agency known as Thunderbolts, as well as armored response teams called Thunderbolt Units. ^[4]

After learning Jessica Drew's secret identity as Spider-Woman, Wilson Fisk freed the Skrull known as Veranke from Ravencroft and sent her after Jessica's loved ones. Jessica fought Wilson Fisk in his home at Gracie Mansion, and also fought the Thunderbolt Units that were present as protective detail. ^[5]

Actor Walker Edmiston provided the voice for Wilson Fisk in the "Pawns of the Kingpin" episode of Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends in November, 1981.
Actor John Rhys-Davies portrayed the first live-action iteration of Wilson Fisk. He appeared in the Trial of the Incredible Hulk TV movie in 1989.
Actor Roscoe Lee Browne provided the voice for Wilson Fisk on the 1990s cartoon series Spider-Man: The Animated Series, making him the first, but not the last, black actor to portray the character. Roscoe Lee Browne died in 2007.
Actor Cole Jensen played a young Wilson Fisk in flashback scenes from the "Shadows in the Glass" episode from season one of Daredevil and the "A New Napkin" episode from season three.
In Adventures of Superman #447 by DC Comics, a copy of the Metropolis Daily News advertises "Dissolve Fat Away" with a photograph of customer Jack Fisk, who is over-sized, bald, and wearing a suit. This might be a tongue-in-cheek reference to Wilson Fisk, who fits a similar description. ^[6]
