"Defeated by Dark Phoenix!" is the 135th issue of the first Uncanny X-Men ongoing comic book series. The issue was written by Chris Claremont with pencil work by John Byrne and inks by Terry Austin. Byrne and Austin also composed the cover illustration artwork. Coloring was provided by Bob Sharen and lettering was by Tom Orzechowski. The issue was edited by Bob Budiansky and Jim Salicrup. It shipped with a July, 1980 cover date. This issue is part of "The Dark Phoenix Saga" storyline.

- The X-Men were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. They first appeared in The X-Men, Volume 1 #1 in September, 1963. The title eventually evolved to include the "All-New, All-Different" X-Men, after which the series became a runaway hit, ultimately changing its title to Uncanny X-Men. Since then, this outcast team of mutant misadventurers have appeared in numerous comic book titles that have since been adapted into several cartoon programs, feature films, and video games; not to mention copious amounts of merchandising ranging from toys to apparel.
- This issue is the seventh chapter in the "The Dark Phoenix Saga" storyline.
- Final appearance of the X-Men skycraft; destroyed in the opening scene from this issue.
