Twelve Monkeys is an American feature film of the science fiction genre with an emphasis on themes such as time travel, dystopic futures, and viruses. It was directed by Terry Gilliam with a script written by David & Janet Peoples. it is based on the film short La Jetée by Chris Marker. The movie was produced by Atlas Entertainment and presented by Universal Pictures. It premiered in New York City, New York on December 8th, 1995. It was released nationally in the United States on January 5th, 1996. The film stars Bruce Willis as James Cole with Madeleine Stowe as Kathryn Railly and Brad Pitt as Jeffrey Goines.
