The Turtle Man is a fictional bank robber featured in comic books published by DC Comics. He was introduced during the Silver Age era of the company's publishing history and was considered part of Earth-One continuity. Most of the Turtle Man's history was maintained in the Post-Crisis environment following the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths up to the company-wide continuity reboot with the New 52. The Turtle Man is associated with the Flash family of comic book titles and made his first appearance in Showcase #4 in September-October, 1956.

  • Is not to be confused with The Turtle, who is a Golden Age foe of the original Flash, who later became the Turtle Man's partner.
  • The Turtle Man is the very first foe of Barry Allen, the Flash. As Allen is often regarded as the first Silver Age era costumed hero, it could be argued that Turtle Man is the first super-villain of DC's Silver Age.
  • The Turtle Man earned himself the nickname, The Slowest Man on Earth, in contrast to Barry Allen's sobriquet, "The Fastest Man Alive".
  • It is unknown whether the Turtle Man originally hailed from Central City, or if he was simply residing there at the time he began his criminal career. he eventually relocated to Keystone City, Kansas.
  • In his prime, the Turtle Man was 5'11" and weighed 178 lbs.
