Teak Sidbam is an alien character featured in the Star Wars franchise. He was first seen in the 1978 CBS television movie The Star Wars Holiday Special where he was a background character seen in the Mos Eisley Cantina. He was played by an unidentified extra.
Biography[]
Teak Sidbam is an Aqualish of the Aquala subspecies. Though born of the planet Ando, Teak's work as a collections/repossession agent took him all throughout the Mid and Outer Rim worlds. Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Teak found himself working on the planet Tatooine and could be found in the Mos Eisley district, sometimes patroning local businesses such as Chalmun's Cantina. Teak was sometimes confused for another Aqualish, a Quara of ill-repute named Ponda Baba, who likewise spent some time at the Cantina.
Teak was present at the cantina in 1 ABY during a festive evening in which the hostess, Ackmena, entertained her guests with singing and dancing. Once the bar closed down for the evening, Teak waved goodbye and left.

Teak Sidbam was first identified by name in Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary.
Original promotional images for Teak Sidbam were intended to reflect Ponda Baba, but this was changed for the film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, after the production crew used a fingered hand to represent Ponda's severed limb after it had been cut off by Obi-Wan Kenobi. The same mask and costume were later used for the obviously finned Aqualish seen in Chalmun's Cantina in the unofficial 1978 television sequel The Star Wars Holiday Special. Retroactively, this unidentified Aqualish was eventually given the name Teak Sidbam. [1][2]
