Syracuse is a city in the U.S. state of New York. It is the county seat of Onondaga County. It is the economic and educational hub of Central New York and the fifth most populous city in the state. Actor William Lundigan, who would go on to play the role of Colonel Edward McCauley on the 1950s TV series Men Into Space was born in Syracuse on on June 12th, 1914. Famed science fiction writer, Rod Serling, best known as the creator of The Twilight Zone, was born in Syracuse on Christmas Day in 1924. Noted American film actor Tom Cruise was born in Syracuse on July 3rd, 1962. Actor Jim Abele, who appeared in episodes of the TV series Angel was born in Syracuse on November 13th, 1960. Another Angel actor, Johnny Messner, was born in Syracuse on April 11th, 1970.
