Superman: The Man of Steel is an American ongoing comic book series published by DC Comics between 1991 and 2003. It totaled 134 standard issues, 6 Annuals, a 0 issue and a 1,000,000 issue. It is the fourth ongoing title to feature the character of Superman during the era, following in the wake of Action Comics, The Adventures of Superman and Superman, Volume 2.
Although Superman was the eponymous protagonist throughout most of the series' run, he was temporarily replaced by John Henry Irons, the superhero known as Steel during the "Reign of the Supermen" storyline.
