Stargate SG-1 is a science fiction/adventure series that ran for ten seasons from 1997 to 2007. It was originally broadcast on Showtime, but later switched to the Sci-Fi Channel with season six. Season ten was the final season of the series and aired from July 14th, 2006 to June 22nd, 2007, totalling twenty episodes. On the day that the sixth episode of the season, "200" aired, commemorating the show's 200th episode, it was announced that the show would be discontinued following the end of the season. The adventures of the SG-1 team continued in the direct-to-video movie Stargate: The Ark of Truth, which brought closure to the metaplot story-arc of the season, which involved the crew of SG-1 against the alien religious cult known as the Ori.
Series regular who returned for the final season include Ben Browder as Lieutenant Colonel Cameron Mitchell, Amanda Tapping as Lieutenant Colonel Samantha Carter, Christopher Judge as Teal'c, Beau Bridges as Major General Hank Landry and Michael Shanks as Doctor Daniel Jackson. Actress Claudia Black, who had been a recurring character on season nine, joined the cast as a series regular, reprising the role of Vala Mal Doran.
