"The Enemy" is the seventh episode of season three of the science fiction television series Star Trek: The Next Generation and the fifty-fifth episode of the series overall. The episode was directed by David Carson and written by David Kemper and Michael Piller. It first aired in syndication on November 4th, 1989. In this episode, the Chief Engineer of the Federation Starfleet starship USS Enterprise , Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge is trapped on a life-threatening planet with a Romulan. The two adversaries must work together if they wish to survive. Meanwhile, on board the Enterprise, Chief of Security Lieutenant Worf is faced with a conflict between his duty as a Starfleet officer and his prejudice against Romulans.
