Sorcery is the ability to manipulate magical energy on an epic scale. An individual who is gifted with sorcery is known as a sorcerer. Typically, a sorcerer's power comes from within and requires little in the way of external resources to accomplish mystical effects. However, some sorcerers may be beholden to others in order to accomplish certain tasks. Such was the case with Mumm-Ra from the ThunderCats franchise, who powerful magic was bestowed upon him by the Ancient Spirits of Evil that resided within the Black Pyramid on Third Earth.
Examples[]
ThunderCats (1985)[]
- "The Mumm-Ra Berbil": Mumm-Ra used sorcery to alter his physical form into that of a Berbil as well as an energy bat. He also used his power to mentally enslave Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, Snarf and Wilykit & Wilykat. He gave them a portion of his power so they could project bolts of red energy at Lion-O. Mumm-Ra also used his sorcery to fly, and to project blasts of electrical energy at Lion-O.
