"Target Generation" is the eleventh episode of season three of Out of the Unknown and the thirty-sixth episode overall. Directed by Roger Jenkins, it first aired on BBC2 on Tuesday, March 18th, 1969. This episode is based on the short story "Target Generation" by Clifford D. Simak. This story was first published in the August, 1953 edition of Science Fiction Plus It was later collected in Simak's 1956 collection Strangers in the Universe.

- Like most of the series, this episode is considered a "lost episode". It was the standard practice of the BBC at the time to wipe their tapes after initial broadcasts.
- This episode was previously adapted in episode 1.13 in the anthology series Out of This World, which first aired on ABC Television in the UK on September 15th, 1962.
