New 52 is an unofficial name which refers to continuity of the internal reality of superhero comics published by DC Comics. Also referred to as the DCnU, the DCnU was a company-wide reboot of all of DC's superhero comics that came about as a result of a crossover storyline in 2011 called Flashpoint. All comic book stories that took place prior to Flashpoint were erased from continuity and a brand new multiverse was created. Elements of DC's other imprints, including the WildStorm universe and Vertigo reality were also folded into the New 52. To celebrate the reboot, DC Comics cancelled and relaunched all of their major comic titles and even changed their corporate logo. The New 52 reality was introduced at the end of Flashpoint #5.
