Jonathan Liebsmann is a film director born in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 15th, 1976. He has directed several films and studio shorts including the horror movies Darkness Falls and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning. His first work in the sci-fi genre was the 2011 alien invasion film Battle: Los Angeles. To achieve the documentary-style pathos he desired for the film, Liebsmann elected to use handeld cameras for the bulk of the filming and shied away from using 3D technology, which had a resurgence in popularity in the early 2010s.
