Jonathan Archer is a fictional astronaut and space vessel captain featured in the Star Trek television franchise. He was the central character featured in the 2001-2005 TV series Star Trek: Enterprise. Played by actor Scott Bakula, he was introduced in the series two-part pilot episode "Broken Bow" and appeared in all 98 episodes of the series in total.

Jonathan Archer was the captain of the Enterprise NX-01, Earth's first warp-engine starship. A bold and inspiring man, Archer was always eager to explore the furthest reaches of the unknown, laying the groundwork for future generations. Accompanied by a loyal and able-bodied crew, he established First Contact with dozens of alien races and paved the way for the formation of the Coalition of Planets, which eventually evolved into the United Federation of Planets.

For the biographical display seen in "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II", writer Mike Sussman wrote a final section of text that didn't end up being visible on screen, stating that Archer "...died at his home in upstate New York in the year 2245, exactly one day after attending the christening ceremony of the first Federation starship Enterprise, NCC-1701". Note that Sussman himself has said this information might not be canon.
