Helen "Hel" Carter was one of the three primary characters featured in the 2000 to 2001 syndicated science fiction television series Cleopatra 2525. The character was played by actress Gina Torres and appeared in all twenty-eight episodes of the series. Helen Carter was the leader of a three-woman resistance team whose goal was to strike against the armed flying drones of the Baileys in their ongoing effort to secure Earth's surface.
Biography[]
Helen Carter was a warrior woman from the 26th century who fought to regain control of the surface of the planet Earth from the Baileys - robotic sentinels that scoured the planet, exterminating all life, driving society underground. Hel was the unit leader of a team that consisted of former assassin Sarge and a time-displaced 21st century woman named Cleopatra. Hel coordinated the team's efforts via a colloquial receptor which put her in touch with the "Voice" - a mysterious and seemingly disembodied entity that guided the team on their missions. The Voice chose Hel for the unit because she was different from other warriors. Practical and level-headed, Hel nursed a deep resentment not just for the Baileys, but also for the mutant hordes led by Creegan who were responsible for slaughtering her family. [1][2]
