Smallville 1x20 006

Lana Lang on Smallville.

Exploding vehicles are, put simply, vehicles that explode. You know... KABOOM! KABLOOEY! KABLAMMO! And other nifty onomatopoeia. The reasons for a vehicle to explode varies. It could be something simple like a fire in the electrical system that hits the gas tank then BLAMMO! In most cases however, a vehicle explodes because some nefarious ne'er do'well plants a bomb inside of it. These mad bomber tropes crop up in a lot of different television programs, mostly crime dramas. In nearly all cases, an exploding vehicle proves fatal to the driver and passengers, but on rare occasion, some have been known to survive. In other circumstances, an individual may deliberately case their vehicle to explode in order to fake their own death.
