An energy dagger is a fictional weapon featured in speculative fiction. It is considered a technologically advanced device and is not something that exists in the real world. As a general item, energy daggers may come equipped with a variety of uses, but they usually consist of a simple blade that can also generate an electrical discharge. In some cases, the blade itself may even be composed of electrical energy.

On the science fiction television series Defiance, there is a weapon known as a charge blade. A charge blade is an energy based bladed weapon use by members of the Castithan race. When powered down, the device itself is just a metallic hilt, but by activating a toggle, a short energy blade, blue in color, emits forth. The power of the blade is very strong and can even cut through a human limb. On the planet Casti, a young Datak Tarr used to play with his father's charge blade. The senior Tarr admonished him for this, citing that such a weapon was to be respected, and should not be wielded like some child's toy. When the time came for the mass exodus, the older Tarr gave a teenage Datak his charge blade. [1]

The Marvel Comics character Black Panther occasionally employs an energy dagger as part of his weapons arsenal, though he rarely uses it. The Black Panther's energy dagger is equipped with a non-lethal setting. It's energy signature leaves a mark on its target, which then enables the Black Panther to track his prey wherever they may go. He utilized the blade in this fashion against a Brooklyn drug dealer named Manuel Ramos, whom he pressured into working for him while investigating a death relating to the The Tomorrow Fund. [2]
