Artemus Knab is a fictional businessman and a minor character featured in the 1966 live-action television series Batman. Played by actor Paul Smith, he first appeared in the thirty-first episode of season two, "The Puzzles are Coming". He also appeared in "The Duo Is Slumming".

Biography[]

Artemus Knab was one of the wealthiest men in the entire world, and prided himself on his numerous monopolies, particularly in the aviation and film production industries. He also owned other successful enterprises, which he referred to as his "lesser monopolies". Additionally, he also enjoyed playing the board game, Monopoly.

Artemus Knab entered into a business arrangement with the Puzzler, who proposed the idea of cornering the puzzle balloon market. Artemus, for some reason, did not feel that his enterprise was even remotely... sucky. Naturally, this made him a prime victim for the Puzzler's manipulation. He had his henchwoman, Glider, spike Knab's tea, with their special bewilderment toxin.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • Although Artemus Knab owned a penthouse suite at the Gotham Arms in Gotham City, it is implied that he is not a true Gothamite.
